Celebrating our Volunteers!

The team celebrating Volunteers' Week
This Volunteers' Week, we were proud to celebrate the incredible individuals who give their time and energy to support digital inclusion across South London.
So far this year our volunteers have donated an amazing 1835 hours, helping us to reach more people and spread the word about our mission.
Thank you to LinkUP London for hosting a celebration of community organisations recognising the role of volunteers in making local change possible.

Partner Spotlight:
The Outside Project LGBTIQ+ Centre

We could not have the impact we have without the support of our incredible community network who help us to reach those most in need.
This pride month, we're proud to spotlight the wonderful work of The Outside Project, who provide shelter and housing to LGBTIQ+ people who are unable to access existing services. Many of the community they work with are fleeing abuse and are often cut off from homeless support systems.
Their frontline service supports those who have nowhere else to turn and who may have had to leave belongings behind. Over the last year, we've supported several of their service users by providing them with a device of their own, helping them to access vital networks, rebuild connections, and establish independence.
You can support their work by donating to their Trans+ Winter Night Shelter Campaign here.
London Climate Week & London Tech Week:
Why Sustainability Must Lead

June marked both London Climate Week and London Tech Week - two key moments to reflect on how the tech sector must take responsibility for its environmental footprint.
As AI, cloud computing, and the demand for devices grow, so does the environmental cost. From energy-hungry data centres to the carbon-intensive production of hardware, the tech industry plays a significant role in global emissions.
At Community TechAid, sustainability is at the heart of what we do. By refurbishing and redistributing devices, we reduce e-waste, lower demand for new tech, and give existing equipment a second life.
We’re calling on the tech sector to prioritise environmental responsibility, not just during Tech Week, but all year round.
Digital Skills for Parents

In partnership with ClearCommunityWeb, we’ve been running digital skills workshops for parents at local children's centres.
These sessions are designed to build confidence, support families to manage online tasks, and help parents engage more fully in their children’s education and wellbeing.
Many young families we meet are experiencing complex needs, especially as housing continues to be a huge challenge throughout the city. Families often require additional support, from healthcare and wellbeing to employment and further education. These sessions are helping to build relationships and ensure families are equipped with the tools and skills they need to benefit from the online world.
As one of the centre managers explains:
"This programme is so valuable because it addresses barriers at an important
stage. Parents who attended told us the sessions were informative and engaging and they felt adequately supported to learn during them. For many of the families, having access to a creche for their children meant that they could attend without the obstacle of having to find (and potentially pay for) alternative child care options."
Many thanks to the Walcot Foundation for supporting this project.
It is thanks to your support that we are able to provide vital digital inclusion help to hundreds across Lambeth and Southwark. If you're interested in partnering with us, or have devices you no longer need, please get in touch!
