Community TechAid turns 5! 🎂

Last month we got together to celebrate our 5th birthday! A huge thank you to all that came along to celebrate, and for your continued support of our work.

We are so proud of what we have achieved over the past 5 years, and hope to continue supporting communities across London with the tools and opportunities to make the most of the online world.

Digital exclusion isn't going anywhere, and we know that there is a huge amount of work to do to ensure that individuals aren't left behind.

Celebrating our birthday!

We're hiring!

We’re looking for a Partnerships and Engagement Manager to lead corporate and community engagement, build impactful relationships, and help scale digital inclusion across South London and beyond. This is a key role driving partnerships with major tech firms and financial institutions, securing funding and device donations - while also working closely with grassroots partners to tackle digital exclusion.

This is a 14-month maternity cover role based at our Digital Community Hub in Brixton. If you’re passionate about digital inclusion and want to be part of something impactful, we’d love to hear from you!

Partner Spotlight: St Mungo's

The team at St Mungo's with devices for their clients!

St Mungo’s is a leading UK homelessness charity that supports people who are sleeping rough or at risk of homelessness. They provide outreach, emergency accommodation, long-term housing, and training services, while also influencing government policy to prevent homelessness systemically.

We have been working with St Mungo's in south London since 2021, supporting hundreds of their clients with devices and skills. As one caseworker explains:

Your support is life-changing! So many of my clients would not have had the same opportunities without the tech they have received from CTA! It is really incredible how a simple laptop or smartphone that most of us take for granted can change someone’s life.

The most common shared experience in our community is housing insecurity. From those living in hostels and hotels, to others in temporary social housing, it continues to be one of the biggest challenges our community faces. A device can change someone's life, and help them take the steps to better their situation, whether it's finding work, connecting with loved ones, or learning a new skill.

We're proud to work with a number of incredible homeless charities like St Mungo's.

This Black Friday, Pass it Forward!

One of our volunteers working on a donated device in our workshop🔧

As the holiday season fast approaches, many people will be thinking about upgrading to the latest laptop or smartphone. If that’s you, remember you can pass on your old device! A laptop can be life-changing for members of our community. By donating it to Community TechAid, you’re not only supporting local people, you’re also giving your device a valuable second life and keeping it out of landfill.

If you’re not planning to upgrade this year, why not consider donating a percentage of what you might have spent to our Spare Parts Fund! Tech often has a much longer lifespan than we’re led to believe, and your generosity could help us buy desperately needed spare parts for our workshop.

Every single pound you give goes directly back into our service, supporting our repair and refurbishment work and helping us provide essential digital skills training.
